This post is intended to develop and implement programmes at Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and Masters levels in Clinical Education run by the University of Aberdeen. The post is based in the Centre for Healthcare Education Research and Innovation (CHERI) within the Institute of Education in Healthcare and Medical Sciences and School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition and the post holder will therefore be part of a team with a strong interest in educational research and scholarship. Aberdeen has a global reputation for academic excellence in healthcare education research and development. Within CHERI, our healthcare education research is thematic: educating for global healthcare workforce challenges, fairness within healthcare education and evidence based development, implementation and evaluation of training within healthcare education. We collaborate widely across the UK (e.g., with the National Centre for Remote and Rural Health and Care, NHS Scotland Youth Academy, the University of Oxford and many others) and internationally (e.g., academics in the Republic of Ireland, Luxemburg and USA amongst others). We have active links with colleagues from other Schools across the institution including education and psychology.
Job Description
The post holder will play a major role in facilitating and developing the ongoing staff development programme, undertake educational research, participate in the academic administration of the Institute, and contribute to medical education teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
It is expected that candidates will have experience in education in a higher education setting or healthcare education setting, including remote education. In addition, ideally candidates will have some experience of undertaking educational research.
For appointment at Lecturer, salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 scale, 50% of £46,735 - £55,755 per annum, pro rata, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
For appointment at Clinical Lecturer, salary will be at the appropriate point on the salary scale for clinical academics below the level of consultant, 50% of £48,288 - £85,402 per annum, with placement according to clinical experience.
