Exciting Opportunity Workforce Development Lead - Tower Hamlets Service
Join us in our journey to empower lives as we seek a Workforce Development Lead for our Tower Hamlets Service. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting managers and staff across the service. Your focus will be on developing, coordinating, and delivering workforce training and related activities. The aim is to meet the learning and development needs of our workforce, enhancing knowledge, expertise, competency, and practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced trainer with knowledge of substance misuse looking to take the next step in their career.
Our Tower Hamlets team is a diverse and dynamic group, comprising experienced managers, compassionate doctors and NMPs, committed nurses, passionate recovery workers, dedicated administrators, and enthusiastic volunteers.

Salary £34,700.09 - £36,635.38 (CGL Scale 31-33) plus Inner London Weighting (£4,072.06) Depending on experience, Pro Rata
This is for fixed term contract until March 2025
About the role
- Understand and collate the learning needs of apprentices, staff, leaders and volunteers within the Services.
- Attend relevant meetings/forums and undertake self-directed learning to keep up to date with changing trends within substance misuse and wider health and social care system.
- Develop plan and coordinate a curriculum of core learning and training opportunities across the Services.
- Develop a network of trainers across the services to deliver and support learning
- Develop, support and deliver an accredited Competency Framework for key skills within Service and identify accredited learning platforms to support staff competencies (inc.apprenticeships).
- Support with recruitment.
- Matrix manage apprenticeship placements.
- Support, facilitate/co-facilitate training and upskilling via the IGTM.
- Develop plan and coordinate Induction packages for specific staff groups across the service.
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of Induction packages to continually meet the changing learning needs of staff and volunteers.
- Promote the use of reflective practice and CPD across the Service.
- Develop with other colleagues a curriculum of CPD and bespoke learning for specific roles and teams based on themes from quality audits, incidents and learning reviews.
- Develop and deliver alongside other colleagues initiatives and activities to improve staff wellbeing.
About you
- Experience of working in the alcohol/substance misuse field - for both young people and adults
- Considerable knowledge of the risks, harms and affects associated with alcohol and substance use
- Experience of developing, coordinating, and delivering training and workshops
- A clear understanding of the need for, and ability to deliver, quality services.
- A knowledge of integrated alcohol/substance misuse treatment.
- A commitment to working with individuals to support positive change and reduce harms from risk taking behaviours
- Experience of contributing to project development
- Experience of enhancing the use of digital platforms, aids, learning modules within delivery (i.e. – E Learning, communications)
- Experience of liaising and working with service users, families, professionals, and communities from a variety of services, and in engaging diverse groups
- Commitment to involving service users in service and strategy development and initiating change
- Knowledge of drug and alcohol policies and appropriate interventions designed to address substance misuse, including recent developments (e.g.- NPS legalities)
- Ability to make contact with socially excluded people and know how and where to make contact with them – seeking out diverse groups
- Ability to provide high standard written and qualitative feedback each quarter as part of the required reports for commissioners (Performance Management Framework, commentary etc
