Principal Examiner - T Level Animal Care And Management: Animal Science Pathway - Remote

We are looking for a Principal Examiner to join us in the 2025 development and delivery assessment series and beyond.

Animal Care and Management is one route within the T Level Agriculture, Environment and Animal Care. Within this route, learners will choose from the Animal Management core pathway and the Animal Science core pathway. We are looking for a Principal Examiner to be responsible for the Animal Science core pathway and its occupational specialism component, Animal Management and Science.
The qualification covers areas including:
- Animal Management and Science: Anatomy and physiology, cells and tissues, nutrition, animal behaviour, research methods, genetics, evolution, conservation, animal welfare, animal health, animal husbandry, laboratory skills, microbiology and biochemistry.
Among other responsibilities, the Principal Examiner will be required to:
- Produce and submit appropriate assessment materials within agreed timescales
- Review and respond to Reviser and/or Scrutineer reports, and amending assessment materials where necessary
- Prepare for and chair the Assessment Material Evaluation Committee (AMEC) meetings
- Prepare for and lead the standardisation of markers meetings
- Act as a Marking Examiner
- Sample and monitor the work of markers and/or any Marking Team Leaders
- Prepare commentary for the awarding panel on the performance of the assessment and recommend preliminary mark ranges
- Prepare for and participate in the awarding meeting
- Review candidate’s marked scripts when requested by City & Guilds as part of the post results service
- Compile a report on the performance of the assessment material
- Undertake training as requested by City & Guilds
Applicants should have strong industry experience with a passion in supporting learners in an important step in their journey, with a commitment to quality and high standards. Experience in writing and reviewing question papers is welcomed but not necessary.
