We are looking for people like you to be a Learning and Skills Tutor

The City of York Council, York Learning team is looking for an appropriately qualified, experienced and motivated tutor to teach English and/or maths. This is likely to be a combination of online teaching and face to face sessions in community venues. You will need to be available for at least one evening per week.
You will be working within a small, creative team to engage learners and deliver the English/maths curriculum (Entry Level to Level 2/GCSE) to adults aged 19+. You should be able to demonstrate awareness of both the rewards and the specific challenges of working with adult learners.
Excellent IT skills are required and have a good understanding of online platforms including Zoom and Google Classroom.
You may be asked to support apprentices which may require visits to their workplace so own transport is desirable.

Please note this is a part time tutor role and the salary will be a pro rata of that advertised depending on hours agreed.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
