As the Learning & Development Manager, you’ll be instrumental in developing and implementing innovative learning solutions that enhances skills, drive performance and foster a culture of continuous learning. Your efforts will support the delivery of the overall People Strategy here at Northern, addressing capability and skills gaps, while supporting our people to grow and maximise their potential.
Your responsibilities will extend to developing and delivering learning solutions that are both innovative and engaging, incorporating the latest in educational technology and methodologies to ensure knowledge retention and an inclusive learner experience
By using data & insight to continuously evaluate the effectiveness of your learning interventions, you will help create a responsive and flexible learning environment that adjusts to the dynamic needs of the business and our people, which keeps us at the forefront of industry developments and innovations.

Key responsibilities:
As the Learning & Development Manager, you can expect a role that requires creativity and drive. Here is a glimpse of what your typical job duties could look like:
- Design and implement comprehensive learning programs that address skills gaps and promote employee growth.
- Deliver engaging learning sessions using a variety of teaching methods tailored to diverse learning preferences.
- Develop leadership capabilities within the organisation through targeted development programs.
- Manage learning and development projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Foster a culture of innovation in learning by integrating digital solutions and new methodologies into our development programs.
About you:
You are an engaging facilitator with a robust background in Learning & Development. Your expertise in designing impactful learning solutions is matched by your ability to engage and inspire a diverse workforce. You combine this with your proactive approach, your excellent project management skills and your commitment to continuous improvement in organizational learning practices, will set you apart in the role.
We’re also looking for the following:
- Experience within Learning & Development focused on designing and implementing impactful learning and development programmes
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
- Ability to use data and insights to develop and evaluate learning strategies.
- Strong organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects & learning activity simultaneously.
