About the role:
As the Apprenticeship Development Coach, you’ll be in an inspirational role where you will coach, mentor, support, challenge, and motivate Trainee Apprentices through their learning journey. You’ll support and monitor learner progress and performance in line with the apprenticeship standards and the occupational expectation of the business. As well as effectively safeguard apprentices throughout their programme.
In this role, you’ll effectively plan, support, and monitor apprentice placements, ensuring clear objectives and alignment to the development of skills, knowledge, and behaviours. You’ll utilise a coaching and blended learning method to train, examine, improve, and evaluate apprentices against relevant qualifications standards/frameworks. Then produce progression reports for the Apprenticeship Team, reporting trends, corrective actions, and compliance levels ahead of team meetings.
You’ll be supported to succeed by other Apprenticeship Development Coaches and report in the Apprenticeship Development Coach Team Leader. This role will be based in Leeds or Manchester, but there will be expectation to travel around the Northern network.

Key responsibilities:
In the Apprenticeship Development Coach role, you can expect a role that is diverse and rewarding. Here isglimpse at the tasks you will undertake:
- Coaching apprentices to reach their full potential by providing key support, mentoring, challenging, and motivating throughout all aspects of their learning journey
- Accurately maintaining and recording data in accordance with funding and awarding body requirements and effectively managing the progress and performance of an allocated cohort of apprentices
- Effectively plan, support, and monitor apprentice placements; ensure clear objectives and alignment to the development of required skills, knowledge, and behaviours
- Taking professional pride in the role and embrace continuous professional development opportunities in support of delivering innovative and impactful teaching, learning and assessment.
- Effectively communicating within the business to ensure all stakeholders involved in the apprentice learner journey are clear on their roles and responsibilities and working in support of the individual learning plan.
- Providing and monitoring the effective safeguarding, SHE, welfare, and support arrangements for apprentices throughout their programme.
- Produce progress report for the Apprenticeship team reporting Managers and contribute within team meetings, reporting trends, corrective actions and compliance levels.
About you:
You'll be a highly motivated individual with a demonstrable commitment to excellence. You’ll have strong interpersonal skills, both as an independent worker and a collaborative team member. You have a proven track record of initiative and integrity, as you navigate task with a combination of autonomy and teamwork. Your communication skills, both written and verbal are exemplary, and combines with a keen eye for detail and an ability to approach tasks with a common sense, you’ll ensure effectiveness in every endeavour.
We’re also looking for the following:
- Experienced and knowledge of coaching
- Experienced professional with occupational competence to a minimum of level 3 in learning and development or equivalent, including assessor qualification.
- Excellent knowledge of learning and development discipline
- Strong coaching skills
- Experience of using Learner Management Systems, E-learning Portfolios e.g. Smart Assessor One File, initial assessment tools and awarding body platforms.
- Computer literacy essential, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
- Understanding of Apprenticeship /Occupational Standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Demonstrable organisational skills within a reactive environment
- Ability to take concise and relevant notes.
- Highly organised and detail conscious.
