Who are we looking for?
We have an exciting opportunity for a new Head of Student Services to join our brand-new London Study Centre team. As this is a new team, the candidate will have a great opportunity to join and lead the student support & services team, in partnership with the University of Hull.
The role is on a full-time, permanent basis, with the location in London, United Kingdom.
The Head of Student Services will lead on Student Services, working alongside the University of Hull’s London Study Centre’s Academic, and Leadership teams as well as Central Cambridge Education Group (CEG) and University of Hull (UoH) central teams. Working with the London Study Centre Leadership team there will be opportunity to present and deliver new initiatives, evolve existing processes, and ensure that student progress is accurately tracked and recorded.
This role would be a great fit if you have previous experience in the higher education sector in a similar or related position(s) or relevant experience in another sector, in either case demonstrating development through involvement in a series of progressively demanding work roles.
The key objectives of the role are to lead on all aspects of student services in the London Study Centre to ensure that academic and student data is collected and managed to relevant internal and external standards. Whilst assisting the Centre Leadership team in managing the administrative systems and resources to ensure compliance with procedures, policies, and requirements of CEG and any external bodies e.g., UoH teams, the relevant academic authorities and relevant immigration agencies.
Key responsibilities:
- To lead, manage and contribute to the academic and student service provision, with a view to constantly improving the student experience.
- To support and deliver enrolment and induction for new and returning students to the highest standards whilst adhering to university partner processes and policy including late enrolment.
- Being the London lead and designated senior staff of escalation of complex student cases and working closely with wider teams including Operations, Facilities, and other university student support teams.
- To implement new systems processes in improving the learner journey including but not limited to service levels for all student facing provisions including a triage service to wider Student Engagement, Library and Welfare support.
- To assist the Centre Leadership team in ensuring that systems and procedures are in place for the maintenance of accurate records on all aspects of the delivery and management of London Study Centre programmes.
- To roll out and support new initiatives at the London Centre as part of the wider University whilst working collaboratively with dedicated university teams.
- To manage, motivate, appraise, and develop relevant staff to achieve both their objectives and their full personal potential.
Requirements & experience we look for:
Experience
- Experience in a similar or related position(s) in higher education
- An understanding of Higher Education and the needs and requirements of International Students
- Experience of the development and review of information system processes and procedures
- Experience of producing routine and bespoke data reports to external deadlines
- Experience in the creation and delivery of reports to a senior level
Skills
- The successful applicant will be fluent in the native language of the centre location and English
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and understanding
- A commitment to teamwork and an ability to allocate resources effectively and efficiently, both human and physical
- An ability to motivate, coach and develop administrative team members
- Confidence in presenting and manipulating data in Excel
- Planning and organisational skills and an ability to take initiative within a customer orientated environment, in line with the relevant policies and procedures
- A record of attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, in English and the native language of the centre location

About our partnership with the University of Hull
The University of Hull London Study Centre is an exciting new HE centre launching in 2023. The centre will be based in Bloomsbury, on historic Gower Street. The centre will offer a range of postgraduate programmes, with an initial portfolio of 3 degrees offered at launch.
