The Role
The Head of School for Access is a key leadership position, managing the curriculum design and implementation of provision from Level two to level 7. The role-holder will be instrumental in implementing a research-informed pedagogical approach, drawing upon best practice whilst meeting regional and national policies and expectations.
The role will implement strategies that build upon lessons learnt from the ‘pandemic years’ to take the best parts of a blended learning approach to support catch up learning, reinforcement and the stretch and challenge of all learners within the School. In addition to ensuring the delivery of an outstanding student experience, the Head of School will develop relationships with, and be a key link for, awarding organisations, employers, educational institutions and industry trailblazers within the city region and beyond. The role-holder will use these links to enhance the curriculum offer and teachers’ knowledge and skills, leveraging these relationships to support the role of dual professionals.
The Head of School for Access is a member of the Wider Leadership Team (WLT). The post-holder manages a Deputy and Assistant Head of School and will support other members of the WLT in delivering an outstanding student experience across all aspects of the learner journey.
The School
The School of Access is a diverse school (enrolments c.700) within The City of Liverpool College, exclusively enrolling adult learners. Teaching, learning and assessment within the School is outstanding and well aligned to local HEIs, meaning that learners progress into higher education or employment.
