Job Title: 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistants to work within primary and/or secondary school settings in Littlehampton. This role involves providing tailored support to pupils with additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full potential in a safe and supportive environment.
You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver consistent, individualised support that promotes both academic progress and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to a designated pupil with additional learning needs
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
- Support the pupil's engagement in classroom activities and learning tasks
- Foster positive relationships to encourage confidence, independence, and wellbeing
- Monitor and record progress, reporting observations to teaching staff and SENCO
- Assist with classroom management and preparation of learning materials where required
- Promote inclusion and ensure the pupil can participate as fully as possible in school life
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people (school-based experience desirable)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, resilient attitude
- Ability to follow guidance and work as part of a wider team
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and commitment to child welfare
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Knowledge of autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, or social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Relevant qualification in education, childcare, or support work (e.g. CACHE, NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent)
- Training in Team Teach or positive behaviour support strategies
