The role
University of Bristol Business School is recruiting three Senior Tutors to lead our postgraduate Student Success service. These highly visible roles will sit at the heart of the School, working closely with colleagues and students to ensure our postgraduate community can fully flourish during their time at Bristol.
As a Senior Tutor, you will provide proactive, skills-focused support and guidance, helping students make the most of their academic experience and achieve their goals. You will play an important role in supporting student engagement and progression, contributing to a culture where student success is actively championed throughout the academic journey.
You will also bring your expertise to the design and delivery of academic and personal skills development opportunities. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the School and wider University (as well as with students themselves) you will help shape and evolve sessions, services, and initiatives that respond to student needs and enhance their overall experience.
Alongside your student support responsibilities, you will contribute to teaching in a discipline-relevant area, strengthening your connection to the student experience.
What will you be doing?
- Acting as a first point of contact for postgraduate students
- Supporting the development of students’ academic skills and confidence
- Contributing to an inclusive, personal development offer linked to the Bristol Skills Profile
- Working as part of a Senior Tutor team to support postgraduate cohorts with academic and pastoral needs through a mix of group sessions, individual meetings, events, and drop-in provisions
- Delivering teaching in a relevant subject area (for example, seminars or tutorials)
You should apply if
You will bring a clear passion for education and a commitment to ensuring students have an outstanding experience at the University of Bristol Business School. This will be underpinned by strong experience of teaching and supporting large, diverse cohorts within higher education.
You will have a sound understanding of postgraduate academic processes and regulations, and a genuine appreciation of student needs. Just as importantly, you will be a collaborative colleague, ready to work across teams within the Business School and the wider University community.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience of designing and delivering sessions focused on academic and personal development. Given the international nature of our student body, proficiency in Mandarin would be welcome, although this is not essential.
