Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Higher Education Musical Theatre Lead to join The Performance Academy at Newcastle College. This is a key role within our provision, leading on the development and delivery of our HE Musical Theatre curriculum while contributing to our wider Performing Arts offer across both Further Education and Higher Education.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in Musical Theatre, with a specialism in dance, alongside relevant industry experience and established professional connections. You will play a central role in the creation, direction and delivery of high-quality performance work, including full-scale musical productions, working collaboratively with staff and students to realise ambitious and industry-relevant outcomes. Your industry insight and network will support the development of opportunities for students, ensuring the curriculum remains current, relevant and aligned to professional practice.
You should be confident in delivering practical dance training, with the ability to teach jazz technique and ideally at least one other dance style. Alongside practical delivery, you will contribute to the academic underpinning of the programme, supporting students in developing critical understanding, reflective practice and written work. Experience in delivering HE academic content is desirable, however we welcome applicants who are willing and able to undertake relevant training.
As a lead within the provision, you will support curriculum development, contribute to recruitment and progression strategies, and play an active role in strengthening industry links, enhancing student progression into employment or further study.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and grow a dynamic Musical Theatre offer within The Performance Academy, working with committed students and a passionate team to deliver high-quality training aligned with current industry practice.
