Your next opportunityTo assist us in the further development of our vision for teaching, research and external engagement in the pharmaceutical sciences and related areas, an exciting opportunity has arisen as Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology and Therapeutics and will support the continual development and delivery of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences ensuring excellence in student experience both on campus and off campus underpinned and supported by the highest standards of pedagogic practice.
This post provides the opportunity to contribute to the provision of excellent academic practice in pharmacology, therapeutics and related areas to deliver fully integrated curricula contributing to vertical and horizontal curriculum integration, ensuring progressive development from foundational pharmacological mechanisms to advanced therapeutic application. You will be involved in the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment in pharmacology and therapeutics across undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing professional development programmes, in line with GPhC standards. You will develop and implement innovative, evidence-based pedagogical approaches, integrating theory with practice, simulation, case studies, and experiential learning in pharmacy practice environments enabling students to apply pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, therapeutic guidelines, benefit-risk assessment, and medicines optimisation principles in patient-centred contexts.
You will be expected to pursue independent research, develop collaborations within the University and the wider academic and industrial community, disseminate research findings and attract research income.
Is this you?To be considered for this post, it is desirable for the successful candidate to have an MPharm or equivalent qualification in Pharmacy, a PhD/Doctorate in a relevant subject area, have registration as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) additionally with annotation as an Independent Prescriber and hold a Higher Education teaching qualification.
The successful candidate will be an engaging educator with experience of developing, supporting and delivering teaching, learning and assessment (including of GPhC regulated programmes) within the Higher Education environment and have demonstrable experience of conducting research in pharmacology, therapeutics, clinical pharmacy, or pharmacy education.
