Progress and Destination Tutor Braintree (37 hours P/W - 38 weeks Term Time) As a Progress and Destination Tutor You'll collaborate closely with curriculum and teaching staff to provide tailored support that empowers students to thrive. Your mission? To help every learner progress confidently through their programme, gain vital skills, and reach their next big step, whether that's further education, training, or employment.
Your impact will directly boost the Colleges success in retention, attendance, and positive student outcomes! In this role, youll take the lead in delivering engaging weekly group tutorials, based on a series of centrally agreed themes. Youll spark meaningful conversations, adapt content to suit the needs of your tutor groups, and bring topics to life in a way that resonates with their course and career goals.
You'll also support a personal caseload of students, tracking attendance, identifying those at risk, and providing focused guidance to help them reach their full potential. Flexibility is key, youll be working across one or more curriculum areas as needed, always bringing your passion, energy, and commitment to student success.
About the Role:
Support student induction and orientation in collaboration with curriculum staff, identifying destinations and barriers to learning as part of the 42-day retention focus. Prioritise support for late enrollers or students showing early signs of disengagement to keep them on programme. Monitor and act on attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and learning attitudes, using College policies and liaising with programme leaders as needed. Deliver weekly tutorial sessions aligned with cross-college themes such as employability, safeguarding, British values, and more.
Adapt and develop Personal Development tutorial content to suit student needs, aligning with the Colleges coordinated approach. Use digital platforms like Google Classroom to deliver aspects of the tutorial programme, including employability and work experience. Conduct regular one-to-one tutorials, supporting students with all aspects of their Programme of Study including English, maths, and work-related learning. Track attendance and follow up on persistent non-attendance, maintaining communication with parents/guardians where appropriate.
Provide initial pastoral support and refer students to relevant internal support services (Welfare, Counselling, Careers, Safeguarding). Assist students in making informed progression choices, including employment, apprenticeships, and Higher Education, in partnership with Careers and curriculum staff. Maintain close communication with curriculum teams to track academic progress, monitor achievement, and advise students on improvement strategies. Organise and attend meetings with students, parents, and course tutors to support progress, involving relevant support teams when needed.
Represent student support at Parents Evenings, Open Events, Enrolment, Welcome Days, and Advice Days as required. Essential
Qualifications:
Education to level 3 or above and/or a professional qualification in relevant subject area or equivalent Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4 or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent Essential
Experience:
Face-to-face experience with diverse age groups, especially 1619-year-olds Skilled in supporting, motivating, and mentoring individuals to achieve goals Capable of managing difficult or confrontational situations calmly and effectively Experienced in high-pressure environments, balancing conflicting priorities and deadlines Proactive, adaptable, and shows initiative in dynamic settings Strong track record of collaborative work with internal teams, management, and stakeholders to achieve shared goals Staff Benefits:
