About the Job
As an Admin Apprentice you will be delivering a level of great customer service within various sections within the area Repairs and Maintenance. We are a service that provides value for money within Newham is renowned for quality and reliability and carries out work in accordance with good trade practice and the recognised standards of the support this we aim to train and develop apprentices in the area of admin.
This Newham Apprenticeship Scheme offers an opportunity for you to start an exciting new career whether it is your first job whether you are returning to work after a career break or you are looking for a change in career direction.
This year we are looking to recruit four (4) apprentices in business administration (office based).
Earn as you learn whilst working alongside experienced colleagues who will help you to develop the skills the council needs. There are even opportunities to progress to a higher or degree level apprenticeship in the future avoiding tuition fees and potential student debt.

As an apprentice at Newham you will receive:
- Quality training to include up to one day a week formal training
- Two years fixedterm contract with Newham Council
- Line management and colleague support
- Being part of an apprenticeship cohort
- Additional training opportunities
- Support to enhance your CV & interview skills
- Up to 21 days annual leave exclusive of 3 additional days that are taken between 26th December and 3rd January. All employees
- receive 8 public holidays per year.
- 36 hour week for office based apprentices
- Health and Safety training at work
About You
You will be a Newham resident and have a desire to make a difference in the local community and with a commitment to improving their skills.
You will be able to demonstrate the following:
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team and use own initiative.
- A commitment to deliver high quality services to Newham residents and a knowledge of local issues.
- Organisational skills with the ability to focus on achieving targets.
- Reliability and punctuality
- A commitment to undertake and complete a qualification via a structured apprenticeship training programme.
- Basic level of work experience
About The Training
You will be undertaking a professional apprenticeship of which can be found below
- 4 x Business administrator / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education ST0070
To successfully complete the Apprenticeship not only must you meet the performance standards required by your line manager but you will also need to meet the apprenticeship learning requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Attending and participating in all classes and workshops on and offsite
- Learning developing and demonstrating practical skills
- Completing all tests and assignments
- Observing all employee policies processes and procedures
- Delivering presentations to colleagues and other stakeholders.
- You should be wellorganised flexible and willing to assist wherever possible.
