About the role:We have an opportunity for a Director of Curriculum to drive the College into an outstanding centre of excellence in the next academic year. The role is to lead the strategic development and quality improvement of the sector area of remit in line with Telford College’s strategic plan objectives. With the new Ofsted EIF placing curriculum at its heart, this is wide ranging role covering student outcomes, quality improvement, student engagement and destinations. You will be responsible for leading, growing, creating and sustaining outstanding provision and ensuring high quality and innovative learning takes place for students and apprentices through effective monitoring, evaluation and review of effective curriculum delivery models that maximise student and apprentice success as defined in strategic targets. As part of the College’s Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the development of students’ employment skills with a focus on local needs. Innovative, Confident, and resilient, you will successfully lead in the delivery of teaching and learning, to raise attainment. You will take a lead role in ensuring the College is well informed about developments in further education and employment sector that have a direct bearing on the learning programmes. Key accountability is ensuring that the College’s current and future FE curriculum fulfils Government strategy and meet the needs of the local and economic environment.Key Responsibilities: The Director will have responsibility for a specific allocated sector, including the direct line management of the Learner Manager(s) and the management of the relevant associated apprenticeship provision for the curriculum area which may include the direct line management of the relevant Business Programme Manager. The scope of the role will include curriculum pertaining to the sector allocated, for both classroom-based courses and apprenticeships. This will include full time and adult students and on site/off site apprentices, as well as working collaboratively with Directors and Heads in other relevant areas. Responsibilities will also include strategic projects pertaining to the college’s strategic plan and from government and local initiatives. The role is accountable for high quality and consistent experience for students and apprentices that lead to strong outcomes. This will be achieved by relentless attention to detail around identifying strengths and areas for improvement. The Director will supervise, support, set targets and appraise the managers as a part of this work. Where necessary, the Director will target support and intervention for under-performing areas. The Director will take a lead role in ensuring the College is well informed about developments in further education and employment sector that have a direct bearing on the learning programmes. Key accountability is ensuring that the College’s current and future FE curriculum fulfils Government strategy and meet the needs of the local and economic environment.Skills, Knowledge and Expertise: Qualifications and training Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification in relevant sector specialism. Teaching qualification. MBA or similar qualification (Desirable). Skills and expertise Extensive curriculum management experience leading in either: vocational/academic/HE provision at a senior level in a further education college. Experience of implementing quality improvement and growth strategies at a senior level. Demonstration and experience of effective performance management and quality improvement within a college environment. Experience of FE and/or HE at a senior level. Successful resource management, i.e. the ability to manage staff and curriculum budgets effectively.
