The West Midlands Postgraduate School of Medicine is inviting applications for a Training Programme Director.
The successful applicant for this post will support the Postgraduate Dean, Head of School of Medicine and the Faculty Support Team to produce doctors who will strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development.
The Training Programme Director will support in the co-ordination, delivery and direction of the specialty training programme as well as contribute to the overall PG School of Medicine Training Programme in Health Education England across the West Midlands.
The role of Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Head of School in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the Health Education England mandate.

The successful applicant will work to ensure that the training programme meets the Local HEE area standard for training and that each trainee is able to access a comprehensive range of experiences which will enable them to gain the capabilities necessary for full registration and completion of the specialty curriculum.
The Training Programme Director is professionally and managerially accountable to the Clinical Tutor. The Training Programme Director will focus upon improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future.
The post would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced educational supervisor aiming to further develop their educational portfolio.
This post would require someone who is able to emphasise the importance and promote the development of a quality learning environment for all learners, demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others.
The successful applicant must have experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team.
HEE working across the West Midlands is responsible for the delivery of high quality postgraduate medical and dental education and training across the region and HEE is committed to the development of a medical and dental workforce that will support high quality patient care.
The post attracts 1 PA which will be reimbursed to the successful candidate’s employing Trust at £10,000 per session PA per annum (pro rata)
It is expected that Training Programme Directors continue in clinical practice while fulfilling the role. The posts will be offered for 3 years in the first instance with satisfactory annual appraisal, with the option of extending for a further 3 years if mutually agreed.
