We are recruiting a Skills Coach to support our Apprenticeship provision – are you interested in joining us?
Do you want to invest your time and skills in supporting the development of others? Do you have good coaching and mentoring skills? Are you a flexible, well-organised, good communicator with excellent customer relationship skills, who wants to support the development of the next generation of skilled professionals?
Do you want to just focus on supporting and coaching our apprentices? Our Skills Coach roles are learner focused - there is no requirement to recruit your own caseload as this is all done for you. You just need to focus on the apprentice, ensuring they receive the best experience!

The ideal candidate will have occupational competence and knowledge in the Rail Engineering sector and be qualified to assess Rail qualifications. If you have occupational competence and knowledge in the sector but are not yet a qualified assessor, then your application would be considered if you are willing to undertake the assessor qualification supported by the college.
As a Skills Coach you will play an integral part in coaching and mentoring apprentices through their training programme, helping them and their employer to ensure they successfully achieve their Apprenticeship. You will build effective relationships with employers and coach, mentor, manage and review apprentices who are based in the workplace, and attend college for training.
The role does involve some travelling and mileage and accommodation costs (when required) are covered. For substantial mileage the College will provide a vehicle.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week on a permanent contract, based on campus when not visiting apprentices or employers.
The College also offers 35 days annual leave (3 days reserved for a two-week closure at Christmas) plus bank holidays, membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, a discounted benefits scheme, and a beautiful rural campus environment with onsite parking and restaurant.
Please note this role constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment. You must have the right to work in the UK and will be required to provide evidence to support this.
