An exciting opportunity has become available for a clinical midwife who is interested in working in Higher Education to join the academic team in a seconded role to cover maternity leave. Experience has shown that midwives who are interested in working in academia find these opportunities beneficial in providing insight into the work of the midwife teacher and personal/professional development to enhance future career aspirations in teaching.
The secondment will enable the successful applicant to experience all areas of the midwife teacher’s role and you will be supported by our expert midwifery team. The secondee will be expected to engage in all areas of the midwife teacher’s role including presenting theory sessions and skills teaching. Providing pastoral care is also an important element of the midwife teacher’s role and you will be involved in providing this through our personal tutor scheme and allocated a link site (in addition to permanent LL) to provide support to students in practice.
The midwifery department is within the School of Education, Midwifery and Social Work which sits in and in the Faculty of Health, Science, Social Work and Education and is based at Kingston Hill.
The applicant will be an experienced clinical midwife who has acted as a practice supervisor and assessor. You will need to be able to work flexibly in order to meet department needs.

This post is available as a result of maternity leave and it is expected that you will hold it for the full period. However, should the substantive post-holder on maternity leave exercise their right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month. The maternity cover is for 12 months.
