About the role
The QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of software products by developing and executing test plans, performing manual and automated testing, and identifying defects and issues. The QA Engineer will work closely with the development team to ensure that all software products meet the required specifications, are user-friendly, and perform as expected. Additionally, the QA Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and improving testing processes and tools to ensure high-quality products are delivered to customers.

Location: The vast majority of our people work flexibly in a hybrid model, working from home with regular attendance at one of our Learning Pool Offices (Derry, Nottingham, Oxford or Belfast). There is a strong preference for candidates to be within a commutable distance of our Derry office for this role.
What you will be doing
- Work with cross functional teams to Identify business and functional scenarios
- Document test cases of new features or existing functionality where applicable
- Prepare and modify test data where needed
- Manually test during development and release sprints
- Be able to identify with QA team what tests can be automated
- Be able to assist or write automation tests where necessary
- Coordinate with dev and QA for release testing
- Identify, record, and document bugs
- Assist with other project-related activities
What we are looking for
The successful candidate will demonstrate :
- Proven track record: You will have strong previous experience working within QA Engineering, this will include testing responsive web applications and mobile web display, bug reporting through tools such as Jira and writing test cases in BDD format
- Subject matter expertise: You will have knowledge and interest relating in Test Automation Framework
- Agile way of working: You will have experience and understanding of working in an Agile environment
- Communications: You will have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Critical thinking: You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Building relationships: You will be able to build relationships with the wider Learning Pool team and work together to achieve the team and company goals.
Although not essential, it would be advantageous to have the following :
- Basic understanding of software and production processes for Software as a Service (Saas)
- Experience with Python
- Experience with test automation frameworks (Robot Framework, webdriverio)
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkin
