Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of The Pivot Academy
At Pivot we believe children deserve better. In our academies we teach and support children and young people from Key Stages 1 – 4 who have been excluded from school, for whom mainstream education is simply not working, or those with an EHCP who require a specialist placement. Every day our teams do incredible work, making a huge difference to some of the most complex and challenging children, many of whom come to us with traumatic backgrounds.
At Pivot 6, we offer specialist support for KS4 children who have been permanently excluded from mainstream school. Our aim in Pivot 6 is to support students academically and socially to prepare them for transition back into mainstream school.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Learning and Behaviour Mentor to support our young people across Pivot 6. We are looking for a candidate who has experience of working with young people with complex needs, who can engage and inspire.
This is a key role supporting learners in a classroom environment by addressing the barriers to learning, in order to enable them to achieve their full potential. Through innovative, creative and professional practice, you will be able to engage our young people and inspire them to learn new skills and develop their self-esteem. Although this area can be challenging, we can offer the right candidate a supportive and fun working environment.
Working at Pivot will give you a real chance to change our student’s lives and we truly believe you will find working here a rewarding experience.

Closing Date: 12 March 2024
We are committed to safeguarding our young people and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service check and appropriate referencing.
During the shortlisting process, Pivot will carry out an online search on shortlisted candidates as part of its due diligence.
