ABOUT THE ROLE We have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Health & Early Years in our ever expanding Health & Science Department. Telford College has invested £430,000 in the creation of a new Clinical Skills Centre on site, to be used by all students including T-Level health students. It gives them experience of a realistic clinical environment and includes two ‘skills rooms’ – a four-bed hospital ward, and a two-bed maternity environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The purpose of this role is to: Deliver outstanding Early Years and Health and Social Care provision to a wide range of full time learners and ensure an exceptional student experience leading to positive achievement outcomes. Work closely with teaching staff to ensure students receive high quality support across their study programme which will lead to outstanding outcomes above sector norms. Deliver and teach Early Years and Health and Social Care related modules for Level 1 to level 3 Early Years students to agreed success targets. Provide assignment and assessment material appropriate to each specific programme. Regularly review and monitor the attendance and progress of learners and follow up as required to ensure learners achieve their targets. Carry out, collate and feedback initial and/or diagnostic assessments to identify students’ ILP and support as required, providing differentiated learning strategies to enable students to achieve their primary learning goal. Evaluate and assess (formative and summative) the work of learners in relation to the curriculum criteria and provide timely constructive and helpful learner feedback. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE Qualifications and training Teaching qualification, e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE or DTLLs, or a firm commitment to achieve a Diploma in Education and Training (DET) First degree or equivalent in an Early Years/ Health and Social Care related area (Desirable) Skills and expertise Successful experience of teaching in the subject area and a demonstrable record of high achievement by students is highly desirable. For less experienced teachers, the ability and the drive necessary to become an excellent teacher are essential attributes Relevant vocational experience in the Early Years/Health and Social Care sector Experience in teaching 16-19 aged Early Years and Health and Social Care learners (Desirable) Experience of working effectively with a wide range of learners with broad starting points, levels of achievement and SEND
