About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone who has the expertise and ambition to develop a careers focused curriculum for all income streams across Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive, Construction within Northumberland College. The investment in this post is to focus on growth of provision in these regional priority areas and build our reputation as a high quality technical provider.
We are looking for somebody to lead these curriculum areas, to ensure that the curriculum, facilities, workforce and vision are industrially relevant, up-to-date and future focused to lead the department to be at the forefront of delivering education, training and skills in these priority sectors and across all funding streams.
About the candidate
To meet our expectations, the successful candidate will be a highly motivated, innovative individual who strives for excellence at all times; demonstrating a breadth of knowledge and experience from both industry and education to inform pedagogy and curriculum development in line with current and future reform.
These Industries are a strategic priority and growth area, therefore, a proactive approach to working in collaboration with key employers to strengthen our reputation across this sector is essential. The role will provide a focus upon leading provision that is co-designed and co-managed with key stakeholders/employers, to support a curriculum fit for the future reflective of the highest industry practice and standards.
Vision, drive and determination to lead on the review, development and improvement of the curriculum across all provision is essential. The successful candidate must have experience of curriculum management, evidencing accurate, impactful data, quality assurance and, importantly, improvement. In addition, leading by example regarding innovative and outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, demonstrating resilience and a positive attitude are key. You will be an integral part of the campus management structure, driving forward the College’s strategic approach to improving Quality of Education.
Leading by example and inspiring staff to support positive experience, progress and destination of students and apprentices by setting high expectations of responsibility, accountability and ownership. Role modelling the professional values of Education Partnership North East, leading and managing to inform a culture of excellence is essential.
About the College
Northumberland College is the only college in the county serving, the communities of Northumberland, offering a diverse curriculum offer from Entry level to Level 6, discrete SEND provision and Apprenticeships. We have three campuses from Berwick near the Scottish Border, Ashington and Kirkley Hall, close to Ponteland and in May 2022, Ofsted rated as a Good provider with Outstanding Personal Development, and are the top Performing Land based College in the Northeast. Over recent years, the College has invested over £14million in new facilities at its sites, including a £2.5 million STEM Centre at its Ashington campus and our Ashington campus will be home to the first pathfinder Gen zero FE College in the UK in 2025/2026
