Purpose - To ensure that candidates are provided with the teaching and support required to
enable them to achieve their qualification within a specified period of time.
Job Description - The job will involve the teaching, assessment and ongoing support of candidates undertaking a variety of Health and Social care courses including the Level 2 and Level 3 Care Diplomas. This will entail taking responsibility for a group of learners and ensuring that they are able to successfully complete their qualification and are either prepared for work or able to progress in their workplace.
Main Duties: Teaching and Assessment of candidates on their Health and Social Care courses which will include:
- Provision of remote teaching and classroom based teaching
- Assessing learner portfolios
- Conduct learner reviews and provide regular feedback to learners
- Contributing to administration and registration of candidates
- Contributing to the evaluation and development of our health and social care courses
- Provide equal opportunities for assessments
- Ensuring that personal CPD is maintained and developed in accordance with awarding body and organisational requirements
- Attending Assessor standardisation meetings
In liaison with the IQA/Lead IQA ensure that the quality of provision is upheld.
This may entail:
- Completion of learner tracking records
- Participation in supervision meetings
- Attend meetings organised by the IQA and agreed with Manager
- Undertake training and development as agreed with IQA and Manager
- Advise IQA and Manager of any issues of concern relating to the qualification, progress and attendance of learners.
Key Skills
- A good general education with a higher-level qualification in a relevant area
(you should ideally hold a Level 5 Diploma in Care Qualification)
- A1 or updated D32/33 (essential) and V1 or updated D34 (desirable)
- Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Demonstrable experience of making a difference in a similar environment to individual learners
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise
- Previous experience as a Tutor/Assessor
- The ability to demonstrate equality of opportunity throughout their work
- The ability to work under pressure
