In the past 6 years, Exeter College has experienced remarkable growth, with our turnover increasing from £42 to £65 million next year. Moreover, we're embarking on an ambitious journey, investing nearly £25 million in capital projects over the next two academic years. To support us to effectively navigate this exciting phase, we are in search of an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our experienced and ambitious Senior Leadership Team. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing strategic leadership across our business enabler functions, ensuring we continue to thrive and deliver outstanding teaching and learning.
Highly regarded in the Further Education (FE) sector and rated as Ofsted Outstanding, Exeter College is the 9th largest sixth form provider in England and has one of the largest apprenticeship offers in the country.
Key responsibilities
As a Senior Post Holder, you will support the Principal and Chief Executive Officer in the leadership, management and effective operations of the College. You will be the key strategic lead for key business enablers, reporting to the Board and be the lead executive for the Board’s Business Services Committee.
You will work with an extremely capable team to create synergy and coherence between the College’s finance strategy, capital investment opportunities and business operations. You will also have a shared responsibility for partnerships at the College; ensuring that these are aligned with our strategic plan and enhance our learner experience.
About you
You will be an accomplished senior leader with a proven track record of navigating complex landscapes and driving strategic initiatives at Board level. As a qualified accountant with extensive experience in financial management, you will be comfortable working as part of a team to deliver excellence for our students, staff and stakeholders.
Your talent for building effective partnerships, combined with your outstanding communication skills, will be instrumental in shaping our College's future. Resilience, emotional intelligence, and an unwavering commitment to high-quality service delivery are also essential for the role, as well as an understanding of the FE sector and its funding mechanisms and regulatory framework.
The COO will be a Senior Post holder, appointed by the Governors and line managed directly by the Principal and Chief Executive Officer.
