About The Role

Our state-of-the-art automotive training academy is uniquely positioned to provide training and continuous professional development for both apprentices at the start of their career, or technicians and engineers looking to update their skills.
You’ll be responsible for Thatcham’s Training Academy curriculum, creating new content as required, and maintaining existing curriculum content to ensure it’s up to date and relevant. Once settled in the role you will take the lead on the standardisation of training materials across all disciplines, utilising the extensive knowledge in the Training team combined with input from our Research teams.
Your mission
- Work collaboratively with the Research teams and Training teams to create and maintain a curriculum that is effective and delivered consistently across all programs
- Work closely with Instructional Design team to ensure all new and existing learning resources are engaging and fit-for purpose
- Facilitating information sharing between the Academy, Research and Product teams, enabling product development and the upskilling of Trainers and Development Coaches
- Responsible for producing the development schedule to maximise effectiveness of our resources, ensuring consistency across all of our learning material
- Represent the operational capability and processes of the Academy in the product development process with the product teams
- Support with commercial activity related to training, providing relevant insight and ensuring productivity of services is retained while meeting customer and market needs
Skills & experience that will set you up for success in this role:
- At least 3-5 years’ working within the automotive repair sector, with demonstrable experience developing curricular and curriculum material
- An innovative and organised approach to teaching methods and activities, with the ability to identify and implement cost conscious practices
- Expert communication skills verbal, written and presenting, taking a professional diplomatic approach when interacting with customers at all levels
- Demonstrable experience of work planning and delivering multiple projects
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Professional qualification to a level 3 (NVQ/ATA) in field of technical expertise in body repair or engineering
- Broad understanding of the complete repair process, including knowledge of HV and ADAS (desirable)
- In depth knowledge of teaching and the science of learning (desirable)
