We are recruiting a Senior Lecturer for a post, on a permanent basis. The Senior Lecturer will be expected to fulfil the role of Academic Lead for Clinical Communication Skills, for a 4-year duration, with a potential to extend.
The postholder will be a senior experienced educator, with relevant training and experience in the area of developing and delivering clinical communications skills teaching to undergraduate medical students. The individual may come from a non-medical background, for example: social sciences or psychology. They will have experience of educational leadership and a track record of high-quality undergraduate medical education, preferably in a university-affiliated role. Ideally, they will have experience of medical undergraduate teaching with a wide range of educational experience and skills.
The postholder will be a key member of the medical education team led by the Dean. They will have responsibility for the design, delivery, quality management and enhancement of all years of the MBBS clinical communication skills undergraduate curriculum.
The post holder will contribute to other areas of medical education, such as Team Based Learning (TBL), personal tutoring, Multiple Mini Interviewing and Assessment including OSCE. They will also participate in the ongoing General Medical Council (GMC) accreditation process. Duties may vary, and leadership roles may rotate depending on requirements of the programme.
