University of the Arts London is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Lecturer to play a key role in leading and developing the BA Graphic Design Communication course at Chelsea College of Arts.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant and innovative course that equips students with the skills and expertise they need to create narratives and design experiences within the wider context of culture and society. The course centres on people’s experiences as a driver for communication design, exploring branding, digital products and platforms, user experience (UX) and user interface (UI), moving image, editorial design and art direction.
Based within the Design School, you will be responsible for teaching, curriculum development and ongoing scholarship across the course. Working collaboratively with the course team, you will contribute specialist expertise in communication design, art direction, visual storytelling, spatial experience and audience engagement. You will support students in developing critical, experimental and socially engaged design practices that connect research, making, reflection and professional awareness.
You will help foster an inclusive and ambitious studio culture, supporting students’ academic progress, engagement and pastoral care, while contributing to the ongoing development of the curriculum in response to contemporary design practices, emerging technologies and the evolving needs of the creative industries.
The role also involves contributing to the organisation and delivery of assessment processes across Stages 1, 2 and 3, ensuring formative and summative assessment is rigorous, fair and aligned with University and College policies.
We are looking for a practitioner with experience of teaching, curriculum development and assessment within higher education or equivalent professional practice. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline at Master’s or PhD level is desirable, as is a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCert or Senior Fellowship of Advance HE.
You will also demonstrate evidence of research, teaching, knowledge exchange and/or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of relevant activity and is relevant to the goals of the Programme, College and University.
Should you have any questions about the role, please contact Dimitris Bizioglis / d.bizioglis@chelsea.arts.ac.uk
