Axcis Education is seeking a patient and nurturing Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism in a Reception class at a welcoming primary school in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol. This full-time role begins in Term 6 (June) and offers a rewarding opportunity to support a child at the very start of their school journey, with a strong likelihood of continuing into September.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with Autism
- Support the child with communication, social interaction and early learning activities
- Use structured routines, visual supports and sensory strategies
- Help create a calm, engaging and inclusive classroom environment
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
Ideal Candidate
- Has experience supporting children with Autism or SEND (desirable but not essential)
- Has a good understanding of EYFS or early years development
- Is patient, calm and consistent in their approach
- Can build a positive and trusting relationship with young children
- Is passionate about supporting early development and inclusion
