About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Trainer Assessor to support students studying on the T Level in Education and Early Years and NCFE Level 2 programmes. This is a rewarding role where you will work closely with learners in both college and real-world placement settings, supporting them to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to meet occupational standards for working with children and young people. You will play a key role in assessing competence in the workplace, coaching learners through their development, and working collaboratively with employers to ensure high-quality placement experiences. We have 1.2FTE post to fill and would welcome part- or full-time applicants (please note this on your application).
About the Programmes
The T Level in Education and Early Years is a technical qualification designed to prepare learners for careers in education, childcare, and early years settings. It includes a significant industry placement where learners must demonstrate competence in areas such as safeguarding, child development, behaviour management, and professional practice. The NCFE Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification focuses on developing foundational knowledge and practical skills for working in early years and childcare settings, including supporting children's development, health and safety, and effective communication. As an Assessor, you will support learners in translating classroom learning into practical, workplace competence aligned to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess learners' competence against awarding organisation standards in both workplace and training environments
- Plan and carry out observations, professional discussions, and reviews to evidence learner progress
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner development and achievement
- Support learners to build portfolios of evidence and meet qualification criteria
- Liaise effectively with tutors, employers, and work placement teams to monitor progress
- Develop strong relationships with employers to identify meaningful assessment opportunities
- Ensure all learners are supported in line with safeguarding, equality, and inclusion principles
- Maintain accurate assessment and progress records
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is passionate about developing the next generation of childcare and education professionals.
- Essential:
- A Level 3 (or above) qualification in Childcare / Early Years
- An Assessor qualification (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience working within early years, childcare, or education settings
- Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding, and professional practice standards
- Ability to assess learners in practice, including observations and evidence-based assessment
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with learners and employers
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workload independently
- Commitment to student success and inclusive practice
