Role Summary
The Learning Mentor will lead support for pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning, engaging families and providing one to one mentoring and pastoral support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead within the school to address the needs of pupils who need help to overcome barriers to learning.
- Engage the hardest to reach families, providing information about services, family learning and parenting, and preventive 1:1 support work.
- Provide pastoral support to pupils.
- Develop 1:1 mentoring arrangements and support distressed pupils.
- Work with other staff in planning, evaluating and adjusting learning activities where behaviour or social/emotional difficulties are present.
- Provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their learning, behaviour and attendance.
- Challenge and motivate pupils, promote and reinforce self esteem.
- Give feedback to pupils on progress, achievement, behaviour and attendance.
- Establish productive working relationships with pupils and parents, acting as a role model.
- Serve on the safeguarding team and be a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Support the SLT and Admin Team with attendance paperwork.
