About The Role
Balfour Beatty are looking for an Overhead Line Trainer/Assessor to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team in Derby. This role requires a candidate with proven experience working on Overhead Lines, bringing practical expertise to the delivery of training and assessment across EHV operational activities.
In this role, you’ll deliver high-quality training and assessment across overhead line activities, ensuring safe, consistent and effective operational standards are maintained across the business.
The role is based at our training centre in Derby, with occasional site visits required throughout the year. A company car is provided, along with full support for travel and overnight stays where required.
Key Accountabilities
Promote and champion a culture aligned to Balfour Beatty’s valuesDeliver training, assessment and certification for Overhead Line (OHL) activitiesAssess and verify construction and operational activities, including plant and vocational qualificationsSupport the development of innovative, value-adding training solutions alongside the OHL Training Team LeaderEnsure consistency in standards through strong understanding and application of corporate governance requirements
What you'll be doing
Build strong, effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support Overhead Line (OHL) training, assessment and NVQ certificationAssess Overhead Lines operatives to ensure compliance with current legislation and company standardsDeliver and assess OHL vocational qualifications and a range of training programmes across the businessWork with the Training Team to continuously review and improve training solutions, ensuring alignment with business needsDevelop and update training materials to meet agreed standards and company branding requirementsPromote OHL training across the business and support opportunities to expand training deliveryDeliver training and assessment at key events, including the annual Winter Training SchoolTravel across the UK to deliver and assess OHL and vocational training when required.Ensure training activities are delivered in line with company policies, P&OD strategy and compliance standardsMaintain and develop professional capability through continuous professional development
Who we're looking for
Essential
Experience of working within the utilities industryExperience of climbing and working within the High Voltage Transmission businessGood IT skills, particularly with Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPointHolds a Level 3/4 or equivalent qualification in a related subject (i.e. engineering)Full Driving License (maximum 6 points)Willingness to travel throughout the UK and stay away from home for short periods when requiredAdvanced ClimberTower RescueManagement or Supervision Qualification
