Summary
A dynamic and compassionate individual will join Carr Head Primary School to support pupils' emotional and social wellbeing. The role offers the opportunity to develop professional skills within a nurturing, inclusive and forward thinking environment, whilst working towards a Level 5 qualification through an apprenticeship.
Responsibilities
You will work under the Pastoral Lead and SENDco to provide tailored support to pupils who face personal or academic challenges. Key duties include:
- Offering practical help, guidance and mentoring to individual children.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents and external professionals to maintain a nurturing environment.
- Addressing barriers such as social skills, attendance, mental health or family problems.
- Leading group sessions, delivering workshops and interventions where appropriate.
- Signposting pupils to specialist support services.
Excellent communication, empathy and confidentiality are essential.
Apprenticeship Details
- Duration: 24 months.
- 20% of training time will be spent on off the job activities, including coursework, exams and tutor meetings.
- The apprentice will have an identified mentor within the school; additional training will be provided by the training provider.
There is no guarantee of a permanent role upon completion of the apprenticeship.
Essential Qualifications
- Evidence of GCSE Maths and English, or willingness to achieve these during the apprenticeship.
Desirable Qualifications
- First aid training or willingness to undertake it.
Essential Experience
- Calm, patient and nurturing disposition.
- Resilient, committed and flexible attitude.
- Ability to build strong relationships with children, staff and parents.
Desirable Experience
- Recent, relevant experience working with primary age children.
Additional Information
