We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Skills Coach who is committed to providing excellent support and guidance for Bio Medical / Lab (Chemistry) Science apprentices. The successful candidate will work closely with the apprenticeship unit and academic colleagues. As a Skills Coach, you will typically:
- Act as an important bridge between the university setting and the workplace, attending employer forum events/contributing to mentor events and workshops.
- Conduct reviews with apprentices and their line managers both in person in the workplace and on-line, building productive relationships with both apprentice and employer and identifying any emerging issues at an early stage. Coach apprentices in developing the skills and behaviours of the apprenticeship standard.
- Lead Skills Workshops, support and prepare the apprentice for the End Point Assessment.

The ideal candidate should have experience of teaching and/or working with students, apprentices or trainees. The post holder will need to demonstrate an ability to communicate with both industry professionals and apprentices. You should have a good degree in Bio Sciences, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, scientific research or industry based laboratory background, with demonstrable knowledge of Bio / Lab Science. The role normally involves travel to employers, so possessing a clean driving licence would be desirable. Alternatively, a willingness to travel by public transport would be required.
This post is based in the Apprenticeships Unit. It is a permanent fixed term part time (0.8) post which is 28 hrs.
