Location: Remote (UK-based)
Contract: Freelance / Part-time
Rate: £350 - £400 per day
Are you a qualified Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) with experience in Carpentry & Joinery? This is an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in a flexible, remote role, supporting high-quality assessment and apprenticeship delivery. You\'ll play a key role in maintaining standards, ensuring compliance, and supporting assessors to deliver consistent, high-quality learner outcomes.

The Role
As an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) for Carpentry & Joinery, you will provide quality assurance support across qualifications and apprenticeship standards, ensuring assessment practice meets awarding body and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing IQA support for Carpentry & Joinery qualifications and apprenticeship standards
- Conducting remote sampling, observation, and verification of assessor decisions
- Ensuring assessment decisions are valid, reliable, consistent, and fit for purpose
- Supporting assessor standardisation through feedback, guidance, and best practice sharing
- Ensuring compliance with awarding body requirements, EPAO expectations, Ofqual regulations, and internal quality frameworks
- Maintaining accurate IQA documentation and contributing to continuous quality improvement activity
This role is fully remote, supporting a small learner cohort (approximately 6 learners), with an estimated commitment of around 6 hours per month, offering genuine flexibility.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a quality-focused professional with strong sector knowledge and attention to detail.
Essential:
- A recognised IQA qualification (D34, V1, or Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance)
- Occupational competence and experience in Carpentry & Joinery
- Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, EPAO processes, and awarding body compliance
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coach and support assessors
- Excellent organisational skills and a methodical approach to quality assurance
Highly desirable:
- Experience working within the FE sector, independent training providers, or awarding bodies
- Confidence operating in remote quality assurance environments
