The Design School is looking to recruit a Lecturer for the MA Design Management course. The course explores the strategic and cultural value of design theory and practice in the context of diverse organisations. It incorporates design production, process, facilitation, and strategy to tackle social and global challenges and prompt entrepreneurial innovation.
This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with innovative approaches to design leadership that facilitates transformative social and organisational change. The position invites applicants who are keen to explore the relationship between design practices and emerging digital technologies, in particular to foster cultural and design leadership.
As a lecturer, you will be responsible to the Course Leader for the delivery of varied design management units across the course, implementing digital technologies know-how such as the impact of AI as it intersects with strategic design and design leadership. You will bring research and/or industry and teaching experience at the postgraduate level. You will manage and participate in the delivery of student-centred and inclusive teaching and contribute to course development, assessment, quality management and student recruitment.
We are looking for an individual with a qualification at the undergraduate or postgraduate level relevant to design management and leadership. You will know about delivering creative projects in a professional environment and have experience in a range of specialist skills focused on emergent digital technologies within the context of inclusive teaching. You will also have comprehensive knowledge of learning and teaching international students.
As an academic, previous teaching experience at the postgraduate level is essential in addition to the experience of professional practice in design management or equivalent. You will also be able to cite examples of creative industry future trajectory and engagement with culturally diverse contexts and enterprises. You should also demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of design leadership as it intersects with social justice, climate emergency and other global social, cultural, environmental, political and economic forces that are transforming the design discipline.
The successful candidate should possess effective interpersonal skills and be a student-centred teacher focused on promoting diversity and inclusivity while demonstrating strong communication and organisational skills. We are looking for applicants who can work collaboratively with colleagues to develop the subject area and share expertise.
