About the role
We're looking for an inspiring educator to join our English department, delivering GCSE and Functional Skills courses to vocational learners aged 16-18, plus a growing cohort of adult part-time students. You’ll support students combining vocational studies with essential English qualifications, helping them progress to higher education or employment. You’ll join an experienced, collaborative teaching team committed to sharing best practice and engaging students who may be retaking their GCSEs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English to vocational learners aged 16-18, and adult part-time students as required
- Plan, deliver and assess high-quality lessons and schemes of work
- Contribute to course development and progression opportunities for learners
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice
Essential qualifications
- Degree in English or related subject (or Level 3 qualification plus 2+ years proven English/literacy teaching experience)
- CELTA or equivalent
- Level 5 teaching qualification (DET, PGCE) or willingness to work towards one with college support
Experience we value
- Teaching GCSE, Functional Skills English, EFL, ESOL or literacy
- Working with 16-18 year olds in vocational settings
- FE environment experience
- Understanding of GCSE/Functional Skills exam requirements
