Job Title: Tutor and Assessor - Access to Higher Education Diploma (Nursing)

Salary: £35,000 per annum (pro-rata £14,000 per annum)
Employment Type: Part Time (2 days a week)
Reporting to: Head of Faculty (Health & Social Care & Apprenticeships)

You will play a vital role in ensuring student success through personalized support and innovative teaching methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Learning:
- Deliver engaging and structured lessons for the Access to Higher Education Nursing programme, utilizing innovative strategies to encourage learner engagement and progression.
- Provide individual and group tutoring to help students master course material and develop essential nursing skills.
- Build strong relationships with learners to enhance their educational experience and provide guidance throughout their academic journey.
- Support multilingual learners with their language development and acclimatization to life in the UK.
- Promote employability skills and personal development, focusing on social and emotional growth.
- Contribute to curriculum development and enhance learning materials for better accessibility and engagement.
- Assessment & Feedback:
- Evaluate student work in line with qualification standards, ensuring assessments are credible and authentically reflect student abilities.
- Provide comprehensive feedback on assessments, identifying areas for improvement and clarifying how students can meet required standards.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments and student progress, preparing for internal verification.
- Consider special requirements for learners during assessments.
- Implement Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and related policies as needed.
- Engage in discussions on assignment development to align assessments with learning outcomes.
- Learner Progress & Support:
- Develop and update Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Learner Profiles, monitoring progress towards academic goals.
- Provide targeted assistance to students needing extra help to keep them on track for success.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion in accordance with College policies.
- Professional Development:
- Commit to ongoing personal and professional development by engaging in learning opportunities and pursuing relevant qualifications.
- Stay informed about innovations in nursing education and the healthcare field.
- Participate in team meetings and curriculum discussions, sharing insights and best practices for learner achievement.
- General Duties:
- Facilitate both in-person and remote learning, effectively utilizing all available resources for online instruction.
- Take on additional tasks as needed to support the College's overall operations.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field (or equivalent qualification).
- Teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one.
- Assessor qualification or readiness to pursue one.
- Experience in teaching and assessing post-16 or higher education students in Nursing or a related area.
- Thorough understanding of assessment standards in nursing education.
- Proven ability to give constructive assessment feedback and guide learner progress.
- Strong organizational skills to manage diverse responsibilities effectively.
- High attention to detail in maintaining accurate documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for building relationships with learners and colleagues.
- Proficient use of digital platforms for teaching and communication.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex ideas clearly.
- Flexible and proactive work ethic, capable of both independent and collaborative efforts.
- Dedication to continual personal and professional growth in education and nursing.
Desired:
- Advanced qualifications or evidence of ongoing professional development in Nursing or Education.
- Experience with online learning delivery.
