**Summary**:
**The Opportunity**:
We are looking for a Content Trainer to manage, design, and deliver our content teams training offer. Our content team sets the standards and guidelines for digital content in UK Parliament, working with over 500 editors to make Parliament’s content clear and accessible for our users.
You’ll create and deliver training to editors across Parliament, the House of Commons, and the House of Lords, giving our content community of editors the technical skills and editorial confidence, they need to create clear and accessible content for Parliament’s internal and external digital offer.
To many editors, your training will be their first exposure to our content management system, and our standards and guidelines on creating the best content possible to meet their objectives, and the needs of our audiences.

The Content Team sets the standards and guidelines for digital content in UK Parliament, working with colleagues and stakeholders to make Parliament’s content clear and accessible.
We work closely with other design and development teams on projects across Parliament’s digital offer, making evidence-led decisions to create content that meets customer and user needs.

The Parliamentary Digital Service (PDS) works with the Houses of Commons and the House of Lords with all their IT and digital needs.
**Job description**:
- Manage, design, and deliver the content team’s training offer, with the aim of giving our community of editors the skills and confidence they need to produce high-quality content.
- Lead on creating and delivering training on the Optimizely content management system (CMS) that Parliament uses for internal and external facing content.
- Assess editor needs and team objectives through our content sponsorship model to plan the right approach for our training offer.
- Lead on training for creating digital content, and other topics like clear writing, accessibility, and search engine optimisation.
- Link learning objectives with measurable results, and regularly review and iterate on the offer based on research and feedback.
- Create resources and guidance for editors so they can develop their knowledge from their initial training.
- Define and plan the team’s engagement with the content community.
- Work with the digital content administrator on processes for organising and delivering training, and with the wider team to make sure training meets digital content best practice, and our standards and guidelines.
- Work with editors, software engineering colleagues, and the content team to make sure the latest technical developments are shared and understood.

**Responsibilities**:
Criterion 1
Experience designing and delivering training courses based on the needs of the audience, with clear learning resources, exercises, and guidance.
Criterion 2
Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to take new technical information and make it clear and accessible.
Criterion 3
Evidence of changing your approach to make sure that different learning speeds, abilities, and styles are accounted for, that all attendees are included, and no one is left behind.
Criterion 4
Ability to oversee a team’s training offer, making sure it fits with the team’s remit and helps the team meet its objectives.
Criterion 5
Experience of using insights and research to improve training sessions and resources to meet defined objectives.
Criterion 6 (Desirable)
Experience of understanding new concepts and making them accessible to others, with the ability to develop knowledge of content management systems and content design principles, to demonstrate and communicate it to others.
