The post may be offered at Band 8 (Lecturer; salary range £48,822 - £56,535) or Band 9 (Senior Lecturer/Reader; salary range £59,966 - £67,468), depending on experience.
The successful candidate will:
- Strengthen applied health research in Psychology, expanding the scale, diversity, and impact of our externally funded portfolio.
- Connect our strengths in basic cognitive science with applied health and care challenges, supporting translation from mechanisms to interventions and service-level impact.

Research environment
Psychology at Hull has a strong foundation in core psychological science. The Centre for Psychological Science conducts research in human cognition (theory of mind, social interaction, future thinking, memory, language, attention and learning) and animal behavior and ecology. This work supports a range of applications in mental health, wellbeing, and neurodiversity, including autism. We seek a colleague who can link this foundational work to applied health research and develop fundable programmes with clear pathways to practice and policy.
Applied health research infrastructure
The University's Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research (ICAHR) provides a vibrant interdisciplinary environment with strong external partnerships. The postholder will also benefit from the School's Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Research (CAMHR), established with major NIHR investment. Key infrastructure includes dedicated Patient and Public Involvement support, the Hull Health Trials Unit (HHTU) for study design and delivery, and a Data Safe Haven for secure management of sensitive health data.
Areas of interest
We welcome applications from across applied health research, particularly in addiction, depression and mental health, or health behavior change.
