Nursery Assistant - Nursery & EYFS - Croydon
Location: Croydon, South London
Start Date: June or September 2026
Contracts: Full-time and part-time opportunities available with flexible start dates
The Role
- Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis across Nursery and EYFS, including children with mild to moderate SEND.
- Assist with learning through play, phonics, early communication and encourage social and emotional development.
- Provide tailored support for children with additional needs.
- Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management.
- Create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to monitor pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Support the preparation of learning resources and classroom activities.
Qualifications
- Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator).
- Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (CACHE).
- Level 3 Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development (CCLD).
- Level 3 NVQ in Children's Care, Learning and Development.
- Level 3 Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy - Birth to 7.
- Level 3 Diploma in Playwork.
- Level 3 Award/Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STLS).
The Ideal Candidate
- Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Have recent experience working in a UK primary school setting.
- Have experience supporting pupils with SEND, especially in a 1:1 capacity.
- Demonstrate strong communication, patience and adaptability.
- Be enthusiastic about supporting children's learning and development.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
Pay
£93 per day for candidates with a minimum of 3 months experience supporting children or young people in an educational, care or SEND setting.
£100 per day for candidates who hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and have over 12 months previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, including AS/H, ADHD, SEMH or SLD, or experience with personal care.
