The post holder will have teaching responsibility for groups of learners within a range of courses, for example, Functional Skills/GCSE/Award in Number and Measure; with expected requirements for planning, delivery and assessment.
Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: 39 Working Weeks, Term time only (48 weeks, including Bank Holidays and annual leave)
£27,734.40 - £39,363.84 p.a. within a banded pay scale, comprising 3 levels, Q2, Q3). Level is determined by job role requirements/the enclosed criteria. The majority of posts at QAC will commence at Q1 (£27,734.40 - £32,106.24 p.a.), with the opportunity for further progression based on College requirements and individual development.

Key Responsibilities
- Promote the aims and ethos of the College both within the teaching and learning context and within the corporate life of the College.
- Contribute to the development of a curriculum which is appropriate to learner needs and conforms to the requirements of examination boards and funding agencies.
- Manage the curriculum through preparation, research, liaison with colleagues and relevant agencies and management of resources & awarding body requirements.
- Deliver, plan and assess the curriculum in an innovative, responsible and flexible manner using a highly individualised approach in collaboration with the Curriculum Area Manager.
- Plan, assess and record the individual achievements of each learner against agreed plans and targets.
- Deliver quality teaching and learning in line with professional standards and tailored to individual learner needs grounded in an informed understanding of their EHCP, and other assessments.
- Evaluate the quality and success of the curriculum and implement curriculum quality improvement plans.
- Participate in the pastoral welfare of learners.
- Participate in staff training and development within the requirements of the College's programmes and priorities.
- The post-holder will be expected to become familiar with the technological support available to students with visual impairment and other learning difficulties.
- Engage in any individual or collaborative research and consultative work agreed by senior management as relevant to the area of work.
- Contribute on an occasional and voluntary basis to the corporate life of the College.
- Perform such other duties as are commensurate with the status and nature of the post.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree qualification at grade 2.2 minimum
- To hold a minimum Level 4 in a teaching qualification
- To hold literacy and numeracy qualifications Level 2 minimum
- To have three or more years recent teaching experience
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills, including word processing and spreadsheet packages
- Excellent written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Manage workload confidently and adhere to deadlines
- To have experience of internal verification
- To have previous experience of the planning, delivery, tracking, review and evaluation of teaching and learning of entry level up to level 2 programmes.
- To have previous experience of SEN learners with moderate to severe learning difficulties and be able to provide the associated curriculum, approaches and strategies.
- To have previous experience of small steps, individualised approaches to curriculum and differentiation of materials and concepts and the tracking & review of achievements
- To have previous experience of learners who have difficulties with emotional regulation
- To have a positive approach to managing the behaviour of learners with moderate to severe learning difficulties
- To be flexible, able to contribute to a wide range of learning situations, and integrate ICT into their work
- To be able to contribute effectively and professionally within a teamwork environment
- To demonstrate awareness of a wide range of learning environments and of different training and learning strategies
- To have experience in using online and interactive maths resources
- To have taught or have experience of teaching Maths to SEN learners
- To be able to demonstrate learning strategies as appropriate to people with visual impairment and autism and/or complex disabilities.
- To have experience of Non Violent Crisis Intervention techniques or similar
- To be familiar with communication methods and access technology as appropriate to learners with visual impairment and other disabilities
