This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week, based at our Health and Active Living Skills Centre.
The Specialist Technician - Health Simulation will work closely with academic staff to support the delivery of clinical skills and simulation-based learning through the effective preparation, operation and maintenance of specialist simulation environments and equipment.
Job responsibilities
As post-holder, you will be responsible to the Head of Area for the following:
* Takeresponsibility for the day-to-day operation of simulation and clinical skills rooms.
* Preparesimulation environments in advance of teaching sessions, ensuring allequipment, manikins, consumables and resources are set up in line with sessionrequirements.
* Ensureall simulation facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, organised andready-to-use condition at all times.
* Providetechnical support during simulation sessions, including the operation ofsimulation equipment and associated technologies.
* Supportacademic staff with the technical delivery of simulation activities, includingassisting with briefings and debriefings where required.
* Resetsimulation environments between sessions, ensuring rooms are prepared forsubsequent teaching.
* Conductroutine checks of simulation equipment and ensure all equipment is functioningcorrectly.
* Identifyfaults and arrange repairs or maintenance, undertaking minor repairs whereappropriate and authorised.
* Maintainstock levels of consumables and ensure simulation equipment and resources areappropriately stored and accessible.
* Undertakeregular stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records of simulationequipment and consumables.
* Raiserequisitions for the purchase of consumables and equipment and liaise withsuppliers and internal departments as required.
* Supportthe planning and coordination of simulation sessions by ensuring technicalreadiness and availability of required equipment.
* Providetechnical guidance to staff and students in the safe and effective use ofsimulation equipment and facilities.
* Ensureall simulation environments comply with health and safety requirements andsupport the implementation of safe working practices.
* Assistin the development and continuous improvement of simulation environmentsthrough maintaining industry-standard operational practices.
Apprenticeship Requirements
* Enrol on andcomplete a relevant apprenticeship aligned to the role.
* Participate inoff-the-job training and development activities as required.
* Build andmaintain an apprenticeship portfolio demonstrating skills, knowledge andbehaviours developed in the role.
* Apply learningfrom the apprenticeship to enhance technical practice and operational deliverywithin the simulation environment.

Person Specification
Experience
* Willingness to undertake further professional development relevant to the role, including undertaking an Apprenticeship where appropriate.
* Strong organisational skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Ability to maintain high standards of environment and equipment.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Basic IT skills.
* Relevant technical or operational experience.
* Knowledge of healthcare or simulation environments.
Qualifications
* Five GCSEs at grade 4 / C or above (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.
* All applicants must be able to provide evidence of a Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics, or be willing to undertake the Qualification whilst in post.
* Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area (e.g. Health, Science, Technical)
* Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant Health or Social Care specialism.
