Floating Brain Injury Coaches work as part of our ABI Services Team. The ABI services teams run services/activities for adults with acquired brain injury every weekday at our 3 hubs across Birmingham. The FLOATING BRAIN INJURY SKILLS COACH role is demanding but really rewarding, the focus of this role is delivering activities to help brain injured people who have already been through formal rehabilitation to continue to re-learn lost skills and improve on their journey back to gaining some independence. A summary of duties will be for the post holder to: - Duties include: -
- Using our pre-planned session materials, you will be required to deliver small group sessions across a range of subjects, which could include reading/writing and maths, IT, brain injury related areas, art & crafts, social skills, adapted sports, communication skills, vocational sessions and activities in the community.
- Working with clients on their personal goals and deficits as part of group sessions
- Offering a friendly listening ear when clients need it
- Supporting clients with personal care as required
- Ensuring session training materials are reviewed / updated and new session plans introduced
- Overseeing client's safety, comfort and well-being at all times, ensuring any concerns are appropriately followed up.
- Being responsible for care staff and volunteers under your supervision and be confident to delegate tasks as required, as the session leader.
- Provide cover at Headway House and Leighton House
We are looking for a confident, caring individual with an understanding of disability, a good sense of humour., NVQ3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent/willing to take within the first 2 years of being in role) - Willing to undertake all required training for the role.
- Although driving is not a requirement of the role, we welcome anyone who is trained and willing to drive our minibus to assist with transporting clients to community activities (D1 required).
