About the Role
Sir Peter Hall School's SEMH school is seeking a Learning Support Mentor to support young people aged 9 16 with social, emotional and mental health needs. The role will involve providing one to one support, developing positive relationships, assisting with behaviour support plans and working closely with experienced practitioners, teachers and external agencies.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised learning support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Student Education Health and Care Plans.
- Provide safeguarding support and promote a safe, positive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, headteacher and SEN/ SEND staff to plan and review support strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support activities.
- Attend training and mentoring sessions to develop knowledge of therapeutic approaches and behaviour support.
Qualifications and experience
- No prior experience necessary - the right mindset is key.
- Patience, resilience, reflective practice and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils who have challenging educational experiences.
- Full training and development will be provided, including access to recognised SEMH and SEN qualifications.
- Experience with level 5 and 6 qualifications, apprenticeships or further professional training is an advantage but not required.
