The National Association for People Abused in Childhood (NAPAC) provides specialist trauma-informed training and consultancy to organisations across the UK. Our training supports professionals working with trauma, abuse, safeguarding, wellbeing and victim-survivor support.We work with organisations across a wide range of sectors, including education, healthcare, social care, criminal justice, charities, local authorities, corporate organisations, frontline services, and community services.As demand for our training continues to grow, we are looking to expand our network of external associate trainers.
Location
As we deliver training nationally, we welcome applications from trainers across the UK, with particular interest in those based in Manchester and London. Please indicate your current location in your application.
The Role
We are seeking experienced, engaging, and trauma-informed trainers to deliver high-quality training sessions on behalf of NAPAC.This is a freelance associate trainer opportunity suitable for professionals with strong facilitation skills and subject matter expertise in areas connected to trauma-informed practice and victim-survivor support.Training delivery may include:
- In-person training across the UK
- Online training delivery
- Half-day, full-day, and multi-session programmes
- Workshops, webinars, and conference sessions
Areas of Expertise
We are particularly interested in hearing from trainers with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Trauma-informed practice
- Childhood trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
- Safeguarding
- Social work and social care
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Psychology and therapeutic approaches
- Sexual harassment training
- Organisational wellbeing and psychologically informed workplaces
- Criminal justice and policing
- Victim and survivor engagement
- Frontline services and community support
- Youth work and family support
- Equality, diversity, inclusion, and lived experience-informed practice
- Vicarious trauma, burnout, and staff wellbeing
- Communication and relational practice
We also welcome applications from trainers with other relevant specialisms aligned with NAPAC’s work.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, professional and trauma-informed training sessions
- Adapt delivery style to suit different audiences and sectors
- Facilitate discussions sensitively and confidently
- Maintain professional standards and represent NAPAC positively
- Deliver training both online and in person where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with the NAPAC team regarding scheduling and delivery requirements
Essential Experience and Skills
- Previous experience delivering professional training, workshops, or facilitation
- Strong knowledge and experience within at least one relevant subject area
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to create psychologically safe learning environments
- Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and sensitive subject matter
- Ability to engage diverse professional audiences
- Comfortable delivering training online using platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams
Desirable
- Professional qualification or background in a related field
- Experience working directly with victims, survivors, or vulnerable groups
- Experience delivering training within public sector or frontline environments
- Lived experience-informed practice

Working Arrangement
This is a freelance associate trainer position with work offered on a sessional basis depending on organisational needs, trainer expertise, and availability.There is no guaranteed volume of work; however, we are looking to build long-term relationships with reliable trainers who align with NAPAC’s values and approach.
