A welcoming and supportive primary school in Wallsend is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team, supporting a Year 4 class. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and capable TA who can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact in Key Stage 2.
The Role
As a Year 4 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting learning, behaviour, and engagement across the classroom. You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver high-quality support for pupils of mixed ability, including targeted interventions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils in class with Maths, Reading and Writing tasks
- Leading small group intervention sessions
- Providing tailored 1:1 support where required
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging independence
- Supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEND where appropriate
- Assisting with classroom preparation, resources, and maintaining a positive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school
- Strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum
- Confidence supporting learning in Year 4
- A calm, consistent approach to behaviour management
- The ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
- A professional, reliable and committed attitude
- All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred (or willingness to apply).
