Clifton Lodge is a small prep school based in Ealing, caring for children aged 3 to 11 years old. ECT Applications Welcome Role Purpose
To fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher and meet the expectations set out in the teaching standards. To demonstrate great care for each child's well being and learning progression. To ensure the effective teaching of all pupils, helping them to develop both inside and outside the classroom. Support the policies and aims of the school and ensure the good social, emotional and physical development of every child. To teach all subjects as required in either KS1 or KS2.
Key Accountabilities Standards and Quality Assurance
- Support the aims & ethos of the school
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality & attendance
- Participate in meetings at the school which relate to the curriculum and organisation of the school and the pastoral care of the pupils
- Attend INSET days and staff meetings, parents' evenings and Open Days
- Supervise daily lunch sessions and other break duties as timetabled
- Take part in the wider life of the school, e.g. concerts, after school clubs, outings
- Participate in arrangements made for Performance Management
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school's policies, practices and procedures, to support the school's vision and values
- Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school
- Work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure coordinated outcomes
- Provide cover in the unforeseen circumstance that another teacher is unable to teach
- Add any other duties reasonably instructed by the Head
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and teach well structured lessons to assigned classes, following the school's plans, curriculum and schemes of work
- Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment
- Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils
- Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
- Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
- Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge; participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external tests
- Carry out any additional responsibility negotiated with the Head, including, but not limited to, extra curricular activities
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to work in a team, form positive relationships with students, colleagues and members of the community
- Good organisational skills
- Good communication and listening skills; evidence of good classroom practice and excellent teaching, understanding how children learn and able to adapt teaching to meet need
- Evidence of successful teaching to a range of abilities; ability to meet deadlines and show good attention to detail
- Ability to undertake tasks related to monitoring and evaluation
- Commitment and ability to work with colleagues to improve classroom effectiveness and raise achievement; knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies
- Graduate with teaching qualification (PGCE / QTS)
- Knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum
- Ability to teach KS1 or KS2
