Do you have a passion for research and teaching? Are you interested in developing your skills working with undergraduate and postgraduate dental students and contributing to the academic paediatric dentistry team?
We are looking for an individual with both research and teaching experience to join the Department of Paediatric Dentistry in the role of Lecturer. The post is fixed term to cover maternity leave. You should have a strong background in qualitative research and experience of behaviour change approaches. The role will also involve supervision of postgraduate research projects and teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. We welcome applicants excited to work with a vibrant and diverse cohort of students.
The position is open to individuals with a PhD and experience of using qualitative methods and behaviour change in research. To be eligible for the higher salary banding you will need at least five years post-doctorate experience in health-related research. You will be part of an active research group and will contribute to the delivery of externally funded research projects, including drafting of grant applications and writing research reports and papers.
Main duties and responsibilities
As a Lecturer in the Division of Paediatric Dentistry your main duties will include:
- Contributing to paediatric dentistry research and teaching.
- Providing expertise in qualitative research methods and behaviour change.
- Supervising postgraduate research projects.
- Undertaking research-led teaching at different levels (undergraduate and postgraduate), including assessment and examinations, and contributing to module design, review, and quality assurance mechanisms.
- Engaging in internationally competitive multidisciplinary research in collaboration with other academic staff in the School of Dentistry, the wider University, and with external partners at national and international levels.
- Research funding bids:
- Grade 7: Supporting external research funding bids to a variety of funders, as well as maintaining and developing relationships with academic, clinical and industrial partners
- Grade 8: Developing and contributing to external research funding bids to a variety of funders, as well as maintaining and developing relationships with academic, clinical and industrial partners
- Write-up of research publications:
- Grade 7: Writing of high-quality research publications of international standing with other members of the Paediatric Dentistry research team.
- Grade 8: Leading the write up of high-quality research publications of international standing with other members of the Paediatric Dentistry research team.
