The Headteacher and LAC Governors of this small rural village school wish to appoint a part time Extended School Teaching Assistant for after school care.
St Leonard's First School and Nursery, Dunston, is looking for someone to join our hard-working, supportive and cohesive team. We wish to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning in our school. We are looking to appoint an inspirational and highly effective Teaching Assistant who is committed to supporting provision to be of the highest standard.
The hours would be 8:30am - 3.15pm, Monday to Friday, term time plus inset days. This position could be applied for in conjunction with the After School Care post which is also being advertised.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) due to medical needs. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to support the child's academic, social, and emotional development within the classroom.
This is a temporary position for the period specified above; however, there is potential for the role to be extended if additional funding becomes available.

- Has experience supporting children with additional medical needs (desirable but not essential)
- Is patient, flexible, and committed to inclusive education
- Works effectively as part of a team and uses initiative
- Is enthusiastic about helping children thrive and achieve their potential
Early Years qualifications are essential for this role and a full job description is enclosed.
