About the Role
TeacherActive is currently working with a SEMH provision based in Harlow who is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Tutor to join our supportive team. This role involves working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage positively with education and achieve their personal and academic potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and personalised learning sessions for students with SEMH needs
- Support students in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning styles and needs
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support student progress
- Monitor and record student progress and contribute to support plans
- Create a calm, supportive environment where students feel safe and valued
Requirements
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies and manage behaviour effectively
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Teaching qualification or tutoring experience
- Experience working in a specialist school or alternative provision
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and trauma informed practice
